    To those of mind

I have found myself growing more and more frustrated with things as a whole.  Have you ever felt that you work and work and work your butt right off just for a little recognition?  How do you feel when you don't get it?  Do you ever feel that if you could just go that little extra, you'd be able to get that promotion you want?  I mean, is it really that easy?  Just work a little harder, put in that little extra time at work, forgo the necessities in life and you'll be rewarded with what you want.

For those of you who reside in that world, please stop reading and I won't burst your bubble.  For the rest of us, we know that no matter what we do, how hard we work, the outcome is already set.  The first day that you arrived at your job, you were weighed, measured and filed by those who you work for.  If you were found wanting, you were placed on a career track that put you in the jobs that are deemed less desireable.  For those lucky few who were in the other class, you were taken and shown the keys to quality.  You were taught the rules of the game and how best to stack your deck in your favor.  And barring anything that would look poorly upon the company you work for, your course was set and placed on autopilot.

The thing that pisses the first group off more than anything, isn't that the second group has what we want; it's that those who were doing the judging don't have any real justification for making the decisions that they do besides, "It is what is best for the company" or "They have proven themselves."  What proof?  Two people doing the same job, each does it at the same rate, each with their own personal touch to the final product, that are equally good in the end state.  And yet person 1 gets more credit than person 2.  Is that right?  Is there anything that can be done?
